I just did a little experimentation as follows: I caught a new slave, read her mind to make sure Toxicity was zero and I cast Mutation on her one time. This made her toxicity go to 25. The next day, her value was 27, the next day 31, the next day 34... So it actually increases over time?

Not sure about escape/death, but I've looked at equipment before/after selling a slave that had stuff equipped, and it appears that anything they had is returned to your inventory upon selling them.

I can't seem to find what the mechanics of "Toxicity" are. What does a high toxicity do? What does a low toxicity do? How can the value be altered?

All I can seem to piece together is that if you use the mutation spell, it will result in high toxicity and then that slave will (forever?) randomly mutate from time to time. I can't seem to find any potions or anything that lower it and can't tell if it lowers on its own or not.
